Akhere Otoide has launched a rewarding healthcare career after graduating from Future Skills Academy.
The 40-year-old has secured a fulfilling job as a support worker after earning the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Caregiving) (Level 2). “The best part of my studies was my lecturer Maria who was good at teaching. She was so patient and understanding with all the students in my class.”
Akhere was born in West Africa, Nigeria where he took care of a mental health patient. After he moved to New Zealand, his wife encouraged him to follow in her footsteps by enrolling at Future Skills Academy. She had earlier achieved Health and Wellbeing certifications in Levels 2 and 4 there. “My wife supported me so much through the course. She is my best friend.”
Outside work, Akhere, of Onehunga, likes to unwind by visiting the beach and travelling.
