We’re welcoming our newest intake of Future Skills International students to our Queen Street campus this week with a series of workshops and orientation activities.
Our final Study Block of 2024 kicks off next week and we have a large cohort of students joining us from all over the world.
On Tuesday they attended an Academic Success Workshop where they got the chance to get to know our academic Learning Support Team and learned all about our experiential learning environment.
On Wednesday they attended an Employability Services and Industry Engagement Workshop where they were introduced to our Employability Team and heard all about the events planned for the study block ahead.
Yesterday and today, they have been back on campus for their Orientation days, including a formal welcome from staff, a Student Success presentation, an IT induction, a campus tour, and academic orientations.
ICT, Facilities and Customer Services Manager Sonny Teio welcomed our new students today and took them through the Future Skills values and karakia.
Applied Management Head of Department, Bing Dai, then spoke to our new cohort about our approach to teaching and learning here at Future Skills.
Bing said our lecturers were supportive and patient and committed to helping students at every step of their journey.
She told students they would be actively involved in learning activities in the classroom and would be encouraged to contribute their ideas. They would have the opportunity to develop their problem-solving, teamwork, public speaking, and other skills.
Bing encouraged students to enjoy their learning, keep up a positive attitude, and embrace challenges as learning opportunities.
