Adam Parkinson

Academic Manager

Adam studied Environmental Science at the University of Leicester (UK) and has taught in a tertiary setting for over a decade. During this time, he has held several academic leadership roles. He has spoken at conferences here in New Zealand and the UK and published in science journals.

Adam’s teaching and research have enabled him to work in very remote places in the world, including the Amazon basin, Indian rainforests, and around the Pacific. Most recently, he spent a lot of time on the Chatham Islands.

Adam strives for high-quality teaching practices and believes that all learners possess the opportunity to better themselves through education and achieve their goals.

Outside of work, he pursues his own research activities in the area of entomology. You will often find him in the bush with his camera. He played golf professionally for many years but left the sport to pursue his interests in science and education. He does still play occasionally for fun. Adam’s also been playing the violin for two years but says he’s far from ready to perform in front of people just yet.
