Harshini Mallawaarachchi

Sessional Lecturer

Harshini has nearly 14 years of experience as an academic (Senior Lecturer) in construction management and as an administrator in the tertiary education sector internationally.

She has nearly 10 years of work experience in the building construction sector as a Sustainability & Carbon Assessment Consultant and Facilities & Assets Coordinator internationally.

 Harshini holds the following qualifications:

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture and Built Environment, Deakin University, Australia.
  • Master of Philosophy in Sustainable Built Environment, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
  • National Diploma in Psychology and Counselling, IMBS Green Campus, Sri Lanka.
  • Bachelor of Science Honours in Facilities Management, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
  • Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (Postgraduate level), University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

She is also a certified consultant under the Consultant Development in Quantification of Carbon Footprint Based on ISO 14064-1:2018, ISO14064-2:2019 and ISO14067:2018 Standards, conducted by National Cleaner Production Centre, Sri Lanka.

An active researcher in the sustainable construction and quantity surveying field, Harshini has published nearly 15 indexed journal articles, more than 60 conference papers, and five book chapters. Her research areas include Sustainable and Digital Construction, Circular Economy and Waste, Zero Carbon Buildings, Risk Management, and Environmental and Lifecycle Analysis.

Her goal for each learner is to guide them towards confident, work-ready practice through experiential learning while nurturing their essential human qualities including ethical awareness, empathy, teamwork, and professional responsibility.

 Outside of work, Harshini is a creative writer, songwriter, presenter and event coordinator.
