It’s perfect for those who want to gain an entry-level role in a kitchen manufacturing plant. It’s also a great pathway to higher-level qualifications for those who wish to pursue a career in kitchen manufacturing or cabinet making. 

On successful completion of this programme, you will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Manufacturing (Level 2).

Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland has had the country’s largest manufacturing base for many years. It represents almost 83,000 workers in the region, being almost nine percent of all the filled jobs in Tāmaki Makaurau. 

The Manufacturing sector continues to rapidly expand in Tāmaki Makaurau, accounting for nine percent of regional GDP ($10.8 million) and four percent of the national businesses in Aotearoa New Zealand. 

It is the second-largest employer of Māori, the most significant employer of Pasifika, and an essential contributor to regional employment and growth regionally and nationally.

Entry Requirements: 

Be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences (applicants who are 15 years of age at the time of enrolment may be accepted with an early leaving exemption from school). 

Possess literacy and numeracy skills which will enable you to successfully participate in the programme. 

This programme is made up of four courses. 

Manufacturing Health and Safety - 5 credits 

Manufacturing Practices and Process - 10 credits 

Kitchen Manufacturing Fundamentals - 15 credits 

Kitchen Manufacturing Project - 10 credits 

This programme provides a pathway to higher-level qualifications for those who wish to pursue a career in kitchen manufacturing or cabinet making. 

This qualification can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Manufacturing (Level 3) with an optional strand in Productivity Improvement. 

A space is provided on campus where all students can complete their self-managed learning. 

All learning resources are located on an online learning platform called Moodle. 

We have free Wi-Fi on campus and Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams for school and home use. 

Our learning space includes a fully equipped workshop. 

You will be able to ask your lecturers any questions about your assessments and learning.  

We also have a dedicated Student Services Team who can help you with any academic or personal issues you face during your time with us. 

Will this qualification be recognised in the education sector where I will work? 

Yes, this qualification is NZQA-approved and recognised by New Zealand employers.

You will have access to all the learning material on our learning management system, Moodle; however, every learning session is essential to your learning, and attendance is very important.

Do I need to have any computer skills? 

Yes, you will need basic computer skills and a laptop to be successful in the programme.

You can work in an entry-level role at a kitchen manufacturing plant.
