“I had the most amazing supervisor and she has really helped me learn and grow.”
Chloe Padoin
Early Childhood Education

Our youngest Early Childhood Education student is already making her mark within the industry.

Sixteen-year-old NZ Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) student, Chloe Padoin, started her study with us this March.

She recently completed a placement at Kumeu Village Kindergarten and received a glowing review from her placement supervisor.

Centre Supervisor Gabriella Williams says Chloe was a student who stood out from the rest.

“Chloe demonstrated the ability to be part of our teaching team, not only demonstrating wonderful initiative but also participating in all areas of our routines,” says Gabriella.

“The relationships she developed with the children were warm, reciprocal, respectful, and children would seek her out on arrival.”

Gabriella says Chloe was able to meet the needs of the children, set boundaries, and assist in conflict resolution situations.

“Her enthusiasm and commitment to her role was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed her time with us. She is a real asset to childcare and education and we wish her all the best.”

Chloe says the best part of the placement was being able to work alongside professional educators and observe how they do things.

“Being able to absorb their knowledge and put that into my own practice was amazing,” says Chloe.

“I had the most amazing supervisor and she has really helped me learn and grow in the short time I was there.”

Chloe says other highlights of the Ashton Warner programme included building an educational resource kit.

“We had to make games and different toys, books, and puppets.”

Chloe says she’s always wanted to work with children.

“I left school early so that I could pursue early childcare.”

Her mother also attended a nanny academy and Chloe loved the idea of pursuing her own studies through a small tertiary education provider.

“In a way, I have followed in my mother's footsteps by doing so.”

Chloe will complete her studies with us this December. After that, she hopes to gain some experience nannying overseas.
