Health: We’ll take you through HealthOne, a new data-centric approach to patient management that is reducing acute medical admission rates and improving health outcomes.
Sport: Which Rugby player would you want on your team? How do the players selected for your team stack up against the opposition? Data can help make decisions and predict the result of matches.
Transport: Transport operators use data on road and traffic conditions to optimise their operations and routes. Operators can determine the best route for pick-up and delivery given the traffic conditions, road repair work and volumes to be collected.
Finance: Data enables us to automate the loan eligibility process in real time based on the details customers provide while filling out an online application form.
Retail: It’s possible to use data to predict how successful a daily deal will be based on location, price, and type of deal.
Farhad is the Head of Department for Information Technology and a Principal Lecturer at Future Skills Academy and Otago-Polytechnic Auckland International Campus. Farhad is a research and development expert with over 20 years of experience. His expertise spans many important areas of IT including internet-of-things, AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. Farhad has led or participated in several industrial multi-disciplinary projects in different countries including Japan and New Zealand.
Waruni is a Lecturer at Future Skills Academy and Otago Polytechnic Auckland International Campus. Waruni completed her PhD in Computer Science at AUT. She has taught at tertiary level in Sri Lanka as well as New Zealand. Her expertise lies in the area of data mining and machine learning, and she likes learning new skills and improving herself. Waruni enjoys teaching and discussing new knowledge and issues with students.
