Experienced developer Misun (Sunny) Hwang was able to build confidence and refresh her knowledge during our Software Development micro-credentials.

Sunny worked in the Information Technology field for over 10 years as a software developer in Korea.

She came to New Zealand seven years ago and has worked as a webmaster at several companies.

This July she enrolled in Future Skills’ Software Development micro-credentials.

She says it was a great opportunity to learn about the latest technologies.

“But the best thing was that I could find my confidence while attending the course,” she says.

“Even though I have much work experience in the IT industry, my knowledge was old because IT is changing so fast.”

She says her lecturers always encouraged her and gave her confidence.

For her project, she created a Tailored CV Generator web application.

“Whenever I make my CV, I have to focus my work experience on the applied role, because I have worked in various roles. So sometimes it takes a long time to write a CV and I lose the opportunity to apply for a job. That's why I designed this project.”

She completed her project successfully and says she will continue to develop the app and will soon publish it on a web hosting server. She’ll then be able to use it in her portfolio.

“The course was very helpful for me to upskill myself and extend my confidence,” she says.
