New degree makes history
11 July 2021

A new degree is set to make its debut. We have just received accreditation to offer our first degree programme, the Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying) (Site Management), Level 7. This makes Future Skills Academy one of the few providers in New Zealand to offer a Bachelor of Construction and one of a handful of private training establishments to have a degree accreditation from NZQA. The three-year programme is coming to Auckland International Campus, paving the way for the academy to develop more degree level programmes.

Group CEO Sam Alavi says the milestone is a significant occasion which marks an important step in the evolution of the institution. “It demonstrates that Future Skills Academy has matured as a tertiary education provider,” he says. “It shows that we have the capability in terms of teaching practice, student management and administrative systems to manage the provision of a degree.” Construction is a growing industry in New Zealand with demand for professionals in this field high and climbing, Sam says.

Completing the degree enables learners to become registered as Graduate members of the NZ Institute of Quantity Surveyors. The next step from the degree is a Post Graduate Diploma or Masters qualification in a related field.
