The group said it was a rare and invaluable opportunity to experience one of the city's most significant construction projects up close.

The visit, organised by Building Institute Aotearoa, showcased a large-scale, multifaceted development, including a three-storey mass timber structure featuring innovative diagrid longitudinal bracing for efficient design.

Walking the site provided a firsthand appreciation of the project's scale, complexity, and the collaborative approach driving its delivery.

A strong emphasis on sustainability was evident through energy-efficient principles and the use of sustainable materials. The facility also highlighted flexible, future-focused design, supporting advanced research and development needs.

This experience provided valuable exposure to the complexities of modern construction, demonstrating how collaboration and innovation can address unique project challenges. These real-world insights will directly enrich classroom teaching, helping bridge theory and industry practice.
