At today’s Auckland International Campus Orientation, Māori Advisor Matt Rua introduced students to the campus values and Māori concepts, including whare and mihi whakatau.

Chief Executive International Division Amin Soleimani congratulated students on reaching this point, acknowledging the challenges many had overcome to make the journey to New Zealand.

He said the campus celebrated the diversity, energy, and global perspectives students brought with them. He also emphasised the importance of employability, explaining that students would be supported not only to complete their programmes, but also to prepare for work and contribute to the global economy.

Amin encouraged students to get involved in campus life, participate actively in class, make use of the support services available, and take ownership of their academic journey.

Orientation included sessions on campus services, student rights and responsibilities, IT systems, insurance, employment rights and responsibilities in New Zealand, and students’ programmes of study. Students also met their lecturers and took part in campus tours led by Student Mentors.

In the lead-up to Orientation, new learners attended workshops on life in New Zealand, employability services and industry engagement, and academic success. The sessions provided practical guidance on everyday life in Aotearoa New Zealand, introduced students to the support available during their studies, and covered experiential learning, critical thinking, research skills, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
