AIC Senior Lecturer Dr Jimmy (Jishuo) Sun has had his latest research on generative AI in the workplace and managerial job satisfaction published in Electronic Markets, a leading multidisciplinary information systems journal.
His article, “AI-augmented digital workplaces and managerial job satisfaction in the future of work: The role of applied AI literacy, organizational support and regulatory influence,” examines the role of applied AI literacy, organisational support and regulatory influence as generative AI becomes increasingly embedded in everyday work.
The publication is the outcome of an international research collaboration involving the University of North Florida in the United States, RMIT University in Australia, and Auckland International Campus (AIC).
Using a quantitative research design, the study provides practical insights into how organisations can support managers as GenAI becomes part of everyday work. It highlights the value of practical AI literacy training that develops managers’ ability to apply AI tools effectively and critically evaluate their outputs, alongside organisational support for their use.
The findings provide useful insights for workforce development and AI implementation strategies that consider both the technological usefulness of GenAI and managers’ job satisfaction.
The research also aligns closely with AIC’s research focus areas, particularly Digital Innovation, AI and Applied Technologies and Workforce Capability, Wellbeing and Future Skills, through its focus on GenAI in the workplace, applied AI literacy and managerial job satisfaction.
The publication also contributes to AIC’s strategic goal to “Deliver leading-edge experiential learning, teaching and research”, strengthening the visibility and reach of the campus’s research and supporting the department’s wider research goals.
