Week two at AIC saw high engagement on level 8 as all the Learning Support services got underway for Block 4.

Over five days, 19 academic skills workshops were held covering subjects such as AI use, research, academic writing and referencing, with more than 260 attendees in person and online. Learning Support Coordinator Meenudie Silva ran five in-person workshops for the first time in her role, alongside Learning Advisors Shannon Wolfaardt and Amelia Funaki. feedback from students attending the workshops was very positive: “Attending the workshops, I gained more knowledge.”

“Thank you so much to the Student Learning Support Team, especially Amelia, Shannon, and Meenudie, for providing such a valuable and informative session”.

The peer tutor services also kicked off on level 8 for the block with 11 peer tutors offering support across all programmes at AIC, helping both undergraduates and postgraduates. The Learning Support team welcomed new peer tutors Jajvi and Urvashi (MAM) and Reggie (MAAITS).

A new feature this block is the addition of an online tutor for MAM, available every Friday from 12-5pm.  Students who would like to meet with a peer tutor for 1:1 support can make an appointment here Book a Peer Tutor here.

Finally, Learning Support’s Brain Buzz and English Conversations also got off to a strong start supported by peer tutors, student leaders and AIC staff. Brain Buzz ran interactive and engaging sessions in BAM classes while Conversations held its first session focussed on making connections and building confidence in communication.  For more information on LS Services or to sign up, go to their Moodle pages or visit level 8.
